Ukraine\u0027s leader pledged to push for victory in 2023 as he and other Ukrainians on Friday marked the anniversary of the Russian invasion.

Around the country, Ukrainians looked back at a year that changed their lives and at the clouded future. A 12-point paper issued by China’s Foreign Ministry also urged an end to sanctions that aim to squeeze Russia’s economy. “Ukraine is entering a new period, with a new task — to win,” Ukrainian Defence Minister Oleksiy Reznikov said.
Back then, there were fears the country might fall within weeks. Zelenskyy referred to those dark moments in a video address. “My family was lucky. We didn’t lose anyone or anything. But many did, and we have to share this loss together,” she said.
