Teacher recruitment programme opens today, says Hui Ying

APPLICATION for the special teacher recruitment programme through the Education Service Commission is open from today, Deputy Education Minister Lim Hui Ying said. She added that interested graduates were particularly encouraged to apply for four critical subjects: Design and Technology, Malay, English and Islamic Education.

“They may still apply if they are interested in becoming a teacher or a temporary teacher, and can do so through the website. “We hope this recruitment will help overcome the problem of the teacher shortage, especially in those subjects,” she said in Ipoh today.The Ministry of Education is facing a 4.49% teacher shortage due to compulsory retirement, optional retirement, promotion, study leave, leave without pay, resignation and death. – Bernama, April 7, 2023.
