.TheNational's aaron_dessner opened up about his work on taylorswift13's Folklore album.
Not the least of which is that after working with mainly mainstream pop and country producers for most of her career, she collaborated on 11 of the album's 16 tracks withDessner is best known for being one of the chief songwriters/producers and mutli-instrumentalists in the beloved Cincinnati-bred band, as well as producing and writing with Lisa Hannigan, Frightened Rabbit, Mumford & Sons, Local Natives and Sharon Van Etten, among others.
"I had been isolating with my family but writing a ton of music in the first months of quarantine which I shared," he said."I thought it would take a while for song ideas to come and I had no expectations as far as what we could accomplish remotely. But a few hours after sharing music, my phone lit up with a voice memo from Taylor of a fully written version of a song -- the momentum never really stopped.
Among those who pitched in: his engineer Jon Low, twin brother and fellow National guitarist/songwriter and composer Bryce Dessner for orchestration on several songs, Bon Iver's Justin Vernon who"helped to write and sing a beautiful song" titled"exile," as well as other friends from his extensive musical tribe, including National drummer Bryan Devendorf.
