Tariff cuts will have ‘virtually’ no impact on Aust economy, says Warren Hogan
Independent economist Warren Hogan says the federal government’s decision to remove 500 “nuisance” tariffs will have “virtually no impact” on Australia’s economy.
The move by Treasurer Jim Chalmers will remove tariffs across a range of imported good such as toothbrushes, fridges, dishwashers, pyjamas, and sanitary products.“They’re literally going to cost the government a few million dollars a year in lost revenue, and that’s probably the best indicator of what sort of impact it can have on the economy, ie. virtually none.
