PETALING JAYA: Former doubles great Tan Boon Heong is relieved that Lee Zii Jia is finally in the midst of hiring a coach to strengthen his preparation for the Olympic Games.Sudirman Cup-bound Zii Jia has revealed after the President’s Cup on Sunday that he has identified a coach, who has produced champions, as one of his coaching candidates.

In the absence of a main coach, his performances had been inconsistent and it was reflected in the slide of his world ranking - it had dropped from two to eight.“I’m a player who needs a coach. I remember how hard Rexy pushed me,” said Boon Heong, who formed a lethal partnership with Koo Kien Keat, and ruled with a dominant show in 2007.

“It’s good that he’s looking for a coach because if he does not have one, I fear, his world ranking may continue to drop without good results. Meanwhile, Boon Heong was surprised with the exits of Michelle Chai and Dr Tim Jones from the Academy Badminton Malaysia under the Badminton Association of Malaysia .
