The locomotive was obtained from Syarikat Shing Kee, a timber concessionaire operating the Lower Kinabatangan area in the 1950s to 1980s period.
Locomotive logging was the mode of logging used extensively in flat and wet, flood-prone plains in the 1950s and 1960' particularly in Beaufort, Tenegang and Lungmanis to transport out logs.
