Since then, he’s taken to documenting his journey while providing resources to those who want to do it themselves.
“We heard you could take ATVs over on the old railbed, but we didn’t really know anything about it,” laughed Ryan. “We just showed up and went.”For their first year, they travelled from Port-Aux-Basque to Grand Falls-Windsor — a nearly 500-kilometre trek inland to the central Newfoundland town. Since then, he’s managed to net around 12 people who consistently ride with him. Nowadays, they typically take a week to drive across the whole island via the T’railway.
He also enjoys that the trails run through communities throughout the province and that those communities provide infrastructure to make the trip doable purely on ATV, such as the ATV-friendly roads in Corner Brook that allow access to the trail without the need for a trailer.“The people are so friendly. All the business owners are so appreciative of ATVers going across and Newfoundland makes it so easy.
