Live Art Dance launches 2023-2024 season as it welcomes a new artistic director

“It’s been an honour to lead Live Art Dance,” Glynn says. “I started dancing late, at 25. I was a professional dancer, toured internationally for 10 years, had my own company for almost 10 years and at this age ‒ I turned 73 in June ‒ to still be working in this business is a true treat.” Glynn leaves his position at Live Art Dance at the end of August but will continue in his role as Artistic Director of Festival of Dance Annapolis Royal . Entering its 10th season, FODAR is Nova Scotia’s only contemporary dance festival.
One of the first tasks Quarmyne wants to do is “to download Randy’s brain,” to gather organizational information about Live Art Dance and then combine that knowledge with her own ideas and capacity. “Lydia Zimmer is an example of the growth that is happening and developing locally,” says Quarmyne. “One of the things I’m excited about over my upcoming time at Live Art Dance is further building the dialogue between the local and national dance scene.”“Bboyizm is a thrilling street dance company,” he says. “But with a perspective on aging within street dance culture and older generations who’ve been around. So, they have several generations of street dancers on stage at the same time.
