PUTRAJAYA: Syariah Appeal Court Judge Datuk Mohd Amran Mat Zain has been appointed Syariah Judiciary Department Malaysia (JKSM) director-general and Syariah Chief Judge effective on Monday (April 10).
Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Dr Mohd Na'im Mokhtar said Mohd Amran, who joined the civil service in 1994, has 29 years of experience in the Syariah Officer Service Scheme.
"Based on his vast experience and qualifications, the Prime Minister's Department is confident that he will be able to take on the responsibility of continuing the department's excellence," he said in a statement. Mohd Amran started as a Syariah officer at the Federal Territory Legal Aid Bureau and had served as a registrar at JKSM as well as a Federal Territory of Putrajaya Syariah Subordinate Court Judge.
He holds a Master of Laws from International Islamic University Malaysia and a Bachelor of Syariah from Universiti Malaya. - Bernama
