The man fired what appeared to be a handgun in a hospital in Saitama prefecture, before fleeing to a post office on a motorcycle.

SAITAMA: A suspected gunman in Japan's Saitama prefecture has taken at least two people hostage inside a post office after wounding two others in a shooting at a hospital.
The man, between 40 and 50 years old, was earlier involved in a shooting at a hospital in the neighbouring city of Toda before he fled to the nearby city of Warabi in the same prefecture. "Around 2pm, I looked inside the doctor's office and saw a pool of blood next to an examination table. I didn't hear a gunshot. But a nurse said she heard two gunshots," the man said.
Images broadcast on television showed a man wearing a tracksuit top and white shirt standing just inside the post office brandishing what looked like a pistol. Several police officers wearing body armour were stationed nearby.
