Serge Audette kidnapped and sexually assaulted women before and after he is alleged to have killed 23\u002Dyear\u002Dold Patricia Ferguson.

After being sentenced to the indefinite prison term, Audette was kept behind bars from 1999 to 2016 when he was first granted day parole and eventually full parole in August 2017. Previous to that, the parole board rejected Audette’s requests for parole seven times.

“It appears that on July 13 last, a journalist came to your home to ask you questions in the part of a documentary about the disappearance of a woman in 1996. According to information from , you lived at the time in the same building as the missing woman and would have been one of the last people to see her. You responded in good faith to questions, until you felt targeted by them. You then asked the journalist to leave.

Audette is alleged to have killed Ferguson between the second sexual assault — when he kidnapped a crossing guard before sexually assaulting her on Feb. 25, 1987 — and the third on July 27, 1998. He was on probation when he sexually assaulted the crossing guard and held the woman against her will in the motel room for 15 hours.

“The two-year sentence he received in 1984 did not prevent him from reoffending in 1987. The 10-year sentence he received in 1987 did not prevent him from reoffending in 1998.
