For privacy reasons, the CBSA is not releasing the person’s identity, but next of kin have been notified. The death is being investigated by Surrey RCMP and the B.C. Coroner, and the CBSA says it will conduct its own review of the incident. “The health and safety of those in our care is of paramount importance to the CBSA,” reads the statement. “We take this responsibility very seriously.”
