THE Supreme Court upheld with finality its earlier decision that says only two provisions of the Republic Act 11479, or the Anti-Terrorism Act of 2022, were unconstitutional.
“The Court resolved to deny the motions for reconsideration due to lack of substantial issues and arguments raised by petitioners,” the SC Public Information Office said in a statement. Petitioners cited various provisions of the law that violate the fundamental rights under the 1987 Constitution, such as the freedom of speech and expression, academic, religion, assembly, association, press, information, unreasonable searches and seizures and basic right to privacy, due process, travel and bail, as well as right against ex post facto laws and bills of attainder, right against torture and incommunicado detention and the presumption of innocence, among others.
