The Tiffin Street Supportive Housing Project in Barrie is getting more than $2.5m from the Ontario govt to create 14 supportive housing units for people with mental health & addiction issues, people with disabilities and those experiencing homelessness.
This multi-residential, three-storey building, supported by the County of Simcoe, will be accessible and close to amenities such as public transportation, parks and grocery stores.
The Ontario government is also investing an additional $25 million annually in the new Homelessness Prevention Program which will simplify and streamline operations so municipal service managers spend more time working with clients to help find housing and other supports, indicates a release. The announcement is part of the province’s Social Services Relief Fund, which has provided over $1.2 billion of support throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
