Health Sciences North said the purpose is to celebrate and recognize the work of outstanding nurses with a specific awards program
The hospital said the new awards program was created "to honour the remarkable work of nurses" who provide compassionate and high quality patient and family-centred care, while showcasing their commitment to improving healthcare for their community. “We wanted to celebrate our nurses’ achievements and their impact on the lives of patients and families we care for from across Northeastern Ontario,” said Julie Trpkovski, Chief Nursing Executive.
“The Nursing Excellence Awards are a way of showing our profound gratitude and appreciation to our nursing staff who consistently go above and beyond to deliver the highest quality of care.” Betty-Anne Paradis, the recipient of the Excellence in Nursing Lifetime Achievement Award, has served as a role model and advocate for nursing throughout her remarkable 57-year career. Paradis was nominated for the award by Clinical Manager Jennifer Michaud.
