The 39-year-old man allegedly blew more than four times the legal blood alcohol limit after the crash at a shopping centre car park in Melbourne's north yesterday.

His Mitsubishi SUV was suspended above the ground, wedged between a tree and a trolley bay, when police arrived to the crash scene on McDonalds Road in South Morang about 6.20am.The Mulgrave man was then breath tested and allegedly returned a reading of .202.His licence was immediately suspended for 12 months and he is expected to be charged on summons with drink driving.

Police have announced they are cracking down on impaired driving, speed, distraction, and fatigue in high-risk areas this Christmas period.
