Khazanah declared a RM500 million dividend for the government despite turning in a higher profit of RM1.6 billion for 2022.

Its NAV, however, reported a decline of 5% to RM81 billion from RM86 billion in 2021 because of the global market downtrend. Liew attributed a portion of the drop in Khazanah’s NAV to asset sales after 2018. Khazanah’s NAV also fluctuates according to the market rate. “Assets were sold because the government was short on funds and this is not right. This is the problem with political decisions,” he said.
