Stress eating can cause health problems such as elevated cholesterol level, one becomes prone to developing diabetes, and nutritional problems, according to the " Fit Track " report of Katrina Son on "State of the Nation."Ricky Ducas Jr., Mental Health coordinator in Baguio City, said eating became a coping mechanism during the pandemic.He did not notice that he was gaining weight until he had a heart attack and had to undergo angioplasty.
An expert said that a person feels happy when stress-eating and that even if a person does not eat a lot but eats often, this can be considered stress eating."Stress eating is actually not normal, kasi parang nabubuhos mo ang problema mo sa pagkain at usually ang kinakain mo hindi talaga healthy like chocolates, maybe cakes something sugary," said Dr. Ma. Bernadette M. Arcena, a psychiatrist.
