MEMBERTOU — A third-period rally from the Strait Pirates capped off a 4-1 win over the Membertou Jr. Miners in Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League action on Saturday night. Keir Jordan, Matthew Raike, Matthew Ellis and Cameron MacDonald scored for the Pirates , all in the third period. Tye Clarke opened the scoring for the Miners' lone goal.Meanwhile in Springhill, the Cumberland County Blues edged the Eskasoni Junior Eagles 4-3 in a shootout on Saturday at the Dr. Dr. Carson & Marion Murray Community Centre. Marcellus Francis, Arlen Denny and MacQueen Kendall potted in goals for the Eagles , while Patrick Hinchey stopped 21 of 24 shots.
The Pirates and Miners will face a rematch at Louisdale’s Richmond Arena on Friday, while the Eagles head to Antigonish to face the AA Munro Jr B Bulldogs.
