Australian chief Louis de Sambucy says people doubting 2030 renewables targets underestimate the pace of change in clean energy and the scale of projects to come.

A faster-than-expected expansion in large batteries has propelled France’s Neoen to Australia’s biggest clean energy player, revealing a target to triple its renewable capacity by 2030.

“We have a massive pipeline of several gigawatts of projects which we are all very excited about,” Mr de Sambucy said. He underlined the advantages to the power system of having more storage to help smooth an increasingly renewables-focused energy mix and provide stability services to the grid, as well as the relative ease of developing projects compared to wind and solar.
