The Edmonton Elks quarterback took off downfield 11 times in Monday’s Labour Day Classic, regularly extending drives and picking up first down. By game’s end, he had 135 rushing yards.
Hopefully, a couple days of film study will give the Stampeders a few tricks when it comes to stopping Ford. And it wasn’t just that Ford ran the ball. The young Canadian quarterback would often see pressure coming from the Stampeders defence and confidently roll back down the field, away from the line of scrimmage before finding an angle to evade the first tackler and take off.
The Stampeders held their lone practice between the two games against the Elks on Thursday, but it was closed to the public. And it’s not as if they have a tonne of time to implement radical changes, anyways.
