Sixty-four vehicles stolen off driveways across the Greater Toronto Area were recovered in Eastern Europe and have been returned to Canada, says York Regional Police.
according to a press release FridayThe project, dubbed “Project Majestic,” brought the Toronto Police Auto Theft suppression Project, the Peel Regional Police Commercial Auto Crime Unit and Peel Regional Police Criminal Investigations together.
The Malta Port Authority and Customs and Equité Association working in collaboration with the Canada Border Service Agency were then able to identify the location of the stolen vehicles. These vehicles were then driven to the Port of Montreal or loaded into shipping containers in Toronto where they were transported to Montreal by rail, police allege.
