Royce Hunt is disappointed his “redemption game” against Corey Horsbugh on Sunday has been delayed by the Raider’s suspension – but the Cronulla prop expects Big Red’s teammates to come for him.
When the NRL judiciary found Corey Horsburgh guilty of a shoulder charge during the week, ruling the fiery forward out for four matches, Canberra were disappointed – but not as disappointed as Cronulla prop Royce Hunt.“weak-gutted dog”
Hunt was clearly looking forward to Sunday’s return bout and told this masthead last week, before Horsburgh’s appearance at the judiciary: “I still think what he did was a shit go. Heaps of people sent me his Instagram post. I was off Instagram at the time, but I had a laugh about it.“He was getting back at me for the ‘weak-gutted dog’ comment. I’m actually happy he made Origin. But I still have a debt to settle with him. Hopefully he doesn’t cry this time.
“I think there should be more players in the game who like to go head-to-head. For me personally, I like trying to go after the biggest guy on the field. That’s just me. I wasn’t always like that. I used to play on the wing. Raiders skipper Elliott Whitehead was not buying into the fighting words from Hunt, but had hoped to see Horsburgh cleared to sort things out.
“I was getting the feeling I wasn’t part of Fitzy’s plans, I was in a slump when the season started, I played the first round and then didn’t the next few, and I was just filthy,” Hunt said.
