“It’s just a regular-season banner. We’re looking for that banner at the end of the playoffs … being the Western Hockey League champions.”

The hockey gods got it right when they had Dylan Plouffe score the goal that clinched the Vancouver Giants the Western Conference regular- season pennant.

Vancouver finished the regular season Saturday with a game in Kelowna. The Giants start the playoffs next Friday against the Seattle Thunderbirds at LEC. They will be looking for their first post-season series victory since 2009-10. The G-Men held off the Rockets 2-1 and now face Seattle in Round 1.— xy – Vancouver Giants March 16, 2019Plouffe and his teammates were even keel in the dressing room area after the game. You could have understood overt elation, what with the lack of success the franchise has had the past few years.

Vancouver made the post-season last season for the first time in four springs, and were bounced in the first round by Victoria.
