Status Yellow rainfall warning in place for five counties as 'heavy downpours' expected
Don't leave home without a brolly today as "heavy downpours" will lash east Leinster today with a risk of spot flooding in places.The alert came into effect at 6pm on Wednesday and remains valid until 9pm tomorrow night.A Met Eireann forecaster said:"Heavy downpours and spot flooding are expected in parts of Leinster during the day.
"The rain looks set to become confined to the eastern half of the country during the afternoon with some bright spells developing elsewhere. A cold day with highest temperatures of 6C to 9C in brisk northerly winds."Met Eireann said: "Rain and showers will ease early tonight to leave it mostly dry with long clear spells developing.Our Irish Mirror Sports page - which brings you all your Irish and UK sports news - can be found here.
Meanwhile, Friday morning will start off cold and frosty start with pockets of fog gradually lifting. Most areas will be dry with spells of sunshine and light breezes. However, temperatures will remain in the single figures, with highs of just 5C and 9C.
