“He’s been excellent about it,” said Stamps GM/head coach Dickenson ahead of the season. “He gave us a schedule. I don’t expect him to miss much the way they have it played out, and the fire department’s fully on board.It’s not a new thing for football players to take on the rigorous and dramatic work associated with being a firefighter.
“Yes, it’s easier to be a kicker and do it,” Dickenson said. “I don’t know if it would work in the Stu Laird-mode now, where you’re actually a defensive tackle or some other position. The misses, however, came early in the contest — from 39 and 45 yards — with the Stamps trying to stick close to the Lions, who got out to a two-touchdown lead 47 seconds into the second quarter.Article content
