, is working on turning the building back into a premier event space, and CEO Bob Hallett told The Telegram he’s excited to be part of restoring the historic theatre to its former glory.
Hallett said they expect renovations to clew up in the next few months on Phase 1 of the project, which will see the first floor used as a bar/café space. The next phase, renovating the auditorium, is going to be much more complicated, he said, and will require a lot of work. Rhonda Tulk-Lane, CEO of the non-profit organization, said a venue of that size and location is needed in the city and is the perfect size for a variety of shows and events.“There is a market gap it’s going to fill. We do need this,” Tulk-Lane said.
Exterior renovations are also planned for the building, including some changes designed to increase accessibility, Hallett said, and others to restore it to how a theatre from its period would have looked.
