Council votes to only repair one of two saunas at the Garcelon Civic Centre
Work on the pool at the Garcelon Civic Centre in St. Stephen is continuing, with deck renovations to be wrapped up in October and one of the two saunas to be repaired, the other turned into storage.
The pool deck has been closed as of June 30 during renovations, which were funded to the tune of $950,000 from the Canada Community Building Fund, with the outdoor Milltown Pool remaining open as late into September as possible, according to Sumner. "Everything's kind of coming together ... it's progressing well," Mayor Allan MacEachern told Brunswick News.
"It seems like a shame," Coun. Emily Rodas said."If we had saunas full-time, maybe we'd have more use ... there's lots of places in Canada that have saunas that work long-term."Rodas asked about getting community feedback, worrying about possible"community outrage" of turning the saunas into a closet.
