Last season, Rotondi entered a league filled with 20-year-olds as a 16-year-old first-round pick and as such, he had to adjust to playing against men. Last this summer, St. John’s athlete Matteo Rotondi will suit up for Canada at the 2022 ISBHF World Ball Hockey Championships being held in Zilina, Slovakia as a member of the country’s under-18 national team. That includes his teammate, Riley Mercer, Mount Pearl’s Zach Dean , St. John’s defenceman Conor Shortall and Deer Lake’s Marcus Kearsey . This season is particularly important for Rotondi. It is his NHL draft year and that can put a lot of pressure on a player to perform.
