Kings centre John Herrington scores three times in wins over Coquitlam and Langley
The Prince George Spruce Kings leaned on their three ‘Js’ – Jack, John and Jake – to stir up turbulence for the Langley Rivermen.
The Spruce Kings reeled off their straight road win to start the season Saturday in Langley, knocking off the Rivermen 3-2. Jack Stockfish, John Herrington and Jake Schneider, with the third-period gamewinner, scored the goals for Prince George . After Garrett Valk had opened the scoring for Langley 40 seconds into the second period, Stockfish hooked up with Schneider and Evan Fedelle to score his first BCHL goal to tie it up. Hayden Gelbard restored the Langley lead later in the period until Herrington found the net for his third goal of the season, with 37 seconds left in the period.Jordan Fairlie made 26 saves to record his second win of the season. The Kings were outshot 28-25.
The 20-year-old Kings goalie from Fort St. John started the weekend with a 24-save shutout Friday in Coquitlam, where the Kings beat the Express 3-0. The Spruce Kings are back on home ice at the newly renamed Kopar Memorial Arena this Friday and Saturday against the Vernon Vipers. The Kings will be wearing specially-designed jerseys on Friday - Truth and Reconciliation Day. Game time both nights is 7 p.m.
