The project to upgrade Sandakan Port as a Makassar Strait Hub needs to be implemented and completed as soon as possible.
Sandakan MP Vivian Wong said as the second largest city in Sabah, Sandakan is very fortunate with abundant natural resources and a major producer of crude palm oil , with Sandakan port also being one of the largest CPO export ports in the State.“Sandakan is strategically located in the middle of the Bimp-Eaga Region as well as along the Makassar Strait which is an important global shipping route that navigates Oceania and the North Asian region.
