Butterfly Wings organization helping bereaved parents cope with the loss of an infant
Sudbury residents were treated to an unusual sight last Thursday when the Big Nickel was lit up in the pink and blue colours that signify October being Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness month.
To raise awareness, it is one of the ways that Butterfly Wings Perinatal Bereavement Services in Sudbury is taking action."Therefore this is a common occurrence but one that is rarely talked about. Families are left to grieve in silence, with little to no support," said a news release."Families attended proudly and had the chance to celebrate their baby in a safe space," said Butterfly Wings in a news release.
At 7 p.m., people around the world light candles in remembrance of the babies, creating “an international wave of light.” “This event is our biggest and most impactful event of the year. We welcome all parents and families who have been impacted by pregnancy and infant loss to reach out to us or join us on Oct. 15,” said organizers.
