Dangerous mosquito-borne viruses are five times more prevalent than in previous seasons amid the flooding emergency in South Australia.
SA Health has warned people to protect themselves from the insects, with the worst flooding in decades along the River Murray creating optimal breeding conditions for mozzies.SA Health also revealed there was a greater risk of deadly Japanese encephalitis virus, Murray Valley encephalitis virus and Kunjin/West Nile Virus, with more species of mosquitos which are known to carry those illnesses found during trapping in the Loxton Waikerie and Mid Murray council areas.
