Two police officers were allegedly attacked and one of their firearms almost stolen during an altercation on Hindley St in Adelaide. South Australia Police allege the 25-year-old suspect threw a mobile phone at the officers before approaching them aggressively and throwing punches at 1am on Sunday.

Wild scenes as man involved in tussle with police. In CCTV footage, the man can be seen appearing to reach for one of the officer’s holsters before he is restrained on the ground and sprayed with capsicum spray. One of the officers suffered a cut to his head, police said. The 25-year-old from Blake View was charged with assaulting an emergency service worker. He was released on bail and will appear in Adelaide Magistrates Court in December.
