PETALING JAYA: Mixed doubles Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai Jemie battled their way into the quarter-finals of the Asian Championships but high-riding Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei stumbled against Indonesian veterans Praveen Jordan-Melati Daeva in Dubai yesterday.

Soon Huat-Shevon, who finished runners-up in the Swiss Open last month, came from a game behind to overcome young China pair Cheng Xing-Cheng Fanghui 12-21, 22-20, 21-15 in the second round yesterday.

However, the Badminton Association of Malaysia pair Tang Jie-Ee Wei could not build on their good form when they lost to former All-England champions Praveen-Melati 23-21, 18-21, 21-15. Meanwhile, men’s doubles Man Wei Chong and Tee Kai Wun’s comeback was halted after Kai Wun suffered an ankle injury in the second round yesterday.
