NORMAN HERMANT, REPORTER: It was a really dramatic day, Sarah. Obviously after so much concern over the missing case of Samantha Murphy, and where she was, this was one of those days where for several hours the name of the man accused of murdering Samantha Murphy was being widely reported and was all over social media.What we can tell you is that he is a 22-year-old man. He is the son of a former AFL player and he lives in an area about 13 kilometres away from Mt Clear.
I was no more than say five metres away from the accused when they brought him in and sat him in the back. He was wearing a high viz orange and blue shirt like you would see someone wear in a factory or someone on a construction site.Of course, most of that time he was simply a bystander as arguments went back and forth about whether a suppression order should be put in place.
Michael Murphy came out and very briefly addressed that crowd of reporters. He said the family is doing okay but one of the most interesting things he said was it's like someone's just let the pressure valve off. So obviously even though we don't know where Samantha is yet, the family is feeling a sense of relief.
