B.C. Ferries service expected to resume with 3:50 p.m. sailing
A number of B.C. Ferries sailings between Victoria and Salt Spring Island were cancelled on Saturday due to a crew shortage.
Six sailings between Fulford Harbour and Swartz Bay were cancelled because B.C. Ferries was unable to secure the required number of crew on the Skeena Queen, it said in a notice. Affected sailings included the 9:50 a.m., 11:50 a.m., 1:50 p.m. sailings out of Fulford Harbour and the 11 a.m., 1 p.m., 3 p.m. sailings out of Swartz Bay.
Initially, nearly all of the day’s service — 10 sailings — were cancelled, but the ferry corporation announced shortly after noon that “a crew member has been sourced” and that operations would return to normal with the 3:50 p.m. departure from Fulford Harbour. In lieu of regular service, B.C. Ferries is providing complimentary 50-person water taxi service that follows the sailing schedules until 3 [email protected]
