KUALA LUMPUR: Some 50,000 new and existing taxpayers with a total assessment of RM1bil are expected to participate in the Inland Revenue Board (IRB) Special Voluntary Disclosure Programme (PKPS) beginning June 1, 2023 until May 2024.
Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan said the programme, which was first implemented in 2019, would be re-introduced to encourage taxpayers to voluntarily file their income statements without being penalised or at a zero% rate.
Ahmad said the implementation of the programme, with the cooperation of the Royal Customs Department and in line with Budget 2023 tabled by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim last Friday , was to encourage the public to perform their responsibility as honest, trustworthy and transparent taxpayers.
He also gave assurance that the IRB will continue to provide professional taxation services in line with the aspiration to make voluntary tax compliance an output of all strategies and initiatives implemented.
