Market breadth has turned negative despite the stock market ending higher yesterday.

Malacca Securities Sdn Bhd said despite the local stock market ending higher yesterday, the upside could be limited today as the market breadth has turned negative with only a handful of sectors ending higher.

The brokerage anticipates that the building materials sector will continue its positive trajectory, driven by optimism in the construction and real estate industries, spurred by the possibility of a renewed proposal for the Kuala Lumpur-Singapore high-speed rail project. Maybank and CIMB were flat at RM9.01 and RM5.58, Public Bank slipped 1 sen to RM4.12 and TNB declined 4 sen to RM10.02.
