PETALING JAYA: The Social Security Organisation (Socso) has aplogised over the incident of a security guard barring a woman from entering its office in Penang, purportedly for wearing a short skirt.

In a statement from its communication and corporate affairs department, Socso said it wished to apologise for the inconvenience caused to the woman, who was accompanied by her colleague."It was reported that the woman, who was there to register her maid for Socso protection, was earlier not allowed in by the security guard due to her dressing which he deemed improper.

"Socso views this incident seriously as it is not in line with the caring principle of the organisation and an internal investigation is underway," it said Saturday . It hoped the issue would not lead to any prolonged speculation which would only worsen the situation. "Socso wishes to stress that our counters and offices are always open to the public, where the customers are our number one priority.

"We hope this incident will not stop the woman or anyone else from visiting any of our 54 offices nationwide, including Sabah and Sarawak," added the organisation.
