Stephen Flynn, the SNP leader at Westminster, admitted the party's vote had not turned out for Thursday's by-election.
The SNP "can't carry on as normal" after suffering a heavy defeat in the Rutherglen and Hamilton West by-election, Stephen Flynn has warned.
The manner of the defeat will now be analysed by party bosses amid fears Labour could win as many as 40 seats if it can replicate its by-election success. "We have lost by a significant margin, we know that our vote has not turned out and we know that we need to remotivate people to vote for the Scottish National Party.
Meanwhile, Pat McFadden said Labour’s victory in Rutherglen and Hamilton West was “more important than a normal by-election win for an opposition”.
