This week, the nation viewed another chapter in the long, slow meltdown of David Johnston. This is a saga about character.
There is no question foreign governments have attempted to influence elections in Canada. There are, however, serious questions about what, if anything, Trudeau did to address all the reports and recommendations.
And so, having accepted a political appointment, Johnston now seems surprised at the level of political scrutiny. He is indignant that politicians would attack his credibility and independence in an obviously partisan role and dismissive of the majority of MP’s who want him to step down. Character is the moral and ethical underpinning that defines a person. It is the foundation of reputation.
