The Ottawa Senators had Monday off to kick back, relax and get ready for a visit by the Washington Capitals Wednesday night.

The hope is he will be ready to play but everybody involved is treating this situation with an abundance of caution. Norris has been close more than once since the Senators arrived for training camp in September and then suffered a setback that didn’t allow him to suit up. Getting Norris back would help the club’s depth at centre. The Senators are also without unsigned restricted free agent centre Shane Pinto. That situation has been well-documented ,and the expectation is that general manager Pierre Dorion will come up with a solution to get it settled sooner or later.

“It’s a big moment, I’m not going to lie. I said at the intermission, the guys created a good chance for me, and we won the game so it’s a good day.” If he’s able to go through a full skate with the Senators, take contact and be involved in the drills then that will be a good sign. Norris skated on Saturday with former captain Daniel Alfredsson and Friday stuck around to do battle drills with assistant Ben Sexton at the Sensplex.
