House members on Tuesday afternoon expressed dismay over the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s turtle-paced distribution of emergency cash aid under the national government’s Social Amelioration Program , this time for its second and final tranche.
Deputy Speaker and Camarines Sur 2nd District Rep. LRay Villafuerte pointed out that those who have received the second tranche so far is a mere 10 percent of the agency’s target. DSWD Secretary Rolando Bautista said Tuesday that part of the delay for the second tranche is their ongoing clean up or “de-duplication” of the beneficiaries’ list.
“[Once] the names of the beneficiaries are completed, we can complete the distribution of emergency subsidy in just a period of a week [through digital],” he claimed.
