As many as six in 10 registered practical nurses in Ontario are considering leaving their jobs, according to a recent poll.
Verch said RPNs are increasingly taking on skills previously done by RNs, which has been exacerbated by staff shortages, yet there is a growing gap between how much they are paid. Typically, he said, RPNs have earned about 70 per cent of what RNs make, but they now make less than that.
