Ontario’s police watchdog is investigating after a Toronto Police officer shot a 15-year-old boy with a “less-lethal” shotgun on Tuesday early morning.

They found a boy who was allegedly armed, and fired the shotgun at him. He was able to flee but was later arrested near 320 York Street.
The SIU said that while the boy’s injuries were not serious, it is conducting an investigation, as a less-lethal shotgun was used and is considered to be a firearm. Kristy Denette, a spokesperson for the Special Investigations Unit, told the Star in an email “less-lethal” weapons fire plastic batons aimed to “incapacitate” people.
