A 63-year-old woman in Singapore, Chen Yiming, discovered a winning lottery ticket at a temple and chose to hand it over to the police instead of keeping the $10,000 prize.

A woman in Singapore discovered a winning lottery ticket while at a temple and decided to turn it over to the authorities. Chen Yiming, a 63-year-old hawker, was visiting the Loyang Tua Pek Kong Temple on the sixth day of Chinese New Year to watch a lion dance performance on February 3rd. After the show, she noticed a 4D lottery ticket lying on the ground amidst the crowd. Unable to locate its owner, she took it home with her.

Upon closer inspection, she realized the ticket had been purchased that day and was valid for the February 8th and 9th draws. On February 9th, the winning numbers (3388) were drawn, and the lucky ticket holder won $10,000. Seeing this, Chen felt it was important to return the ticket to its rightful owner. She didn't want to keep the money for herself and believes the owner must be very anxious about losing the ticket. On February 10th, she handed the winning ticket to the police at the Sengkang Police Station. Chen stated that she has a strong moral compass and believes in returning what doesn't belong to her. She has returned wallets with cash and cards on two previous occasions. She also shared that she once won $2,000 from the lottery two years ago, understanding the difficulty of winning and emphasizing the importance of returning the ticket to its rightful owner. According to Section 403 of the Penal Code 1871, keeping a stranger's property and claiming it as your own is a criminal offense
