SIMMONS: Blue Jays GM Ross Atkins still hurting from playoffs sweep Via simmonssteve
Neither has anyone else. It is still too soon.
The Blue Jays didn’t lose to LeBron or Vasilevskiy. They lost to Cal Raleigh. They lost to Carlos Santana, without a guitar. They lost on J.P. Crawford’s bloop to centre field. They lost in the ninth inning to an RBI off the bat of Adam Frazier, whose slugging percentage was .311 this season. And they lost to what the Jays didn’t have — a team full of hard-throwing, swing, and miss, starters and relievers.
“We’re positioned to be active,” said Atkins, talking about the off-season, not yet certain what his budget will look like for next year. But he knows he won’t be able to sign another expensive starting pitcher unless some other salary or two is going elsewhere in a deal.
