Sibu Municipal Council chairman Clarence Ting said the move might be adopted to get residents to be mindful of the amount of waste they generate.

Sibu Municipal Council chairman Clarence Ting said the move might be adopted to get residents to be mindful about the amount of waste they generated.

“Don’t buy so many things. Don’t create so much waste. This is our message to you ,” he said when receiving the University of Technology Sarawak Students Council at his office. He hoped a collaborative effort between SMC and UTS could be established to look into reducing the pressure put on landfills.

He emphasised the importance of raising awareness and shaping government policies on environmental matters.
