Australians have been warned to check twice before chowing down on an Australian Christmas staple after seafood harvested from one Sydney location was found to cause Paralytic Shellfish Poisoning.

The NSW Department of Primary Industries have cautioned that seafood collected or harvested from the region could cause Paralytic Shellfish Poisoning .

Sydneysiders have been warned over seafood caught in the Broken Bay region which could cause paralysis. Picture: Getty Images Caution only needs to be taken by recreational fishers operating in the area, who have been told not to consume bivalves and the guts of crabs and lobsters from Broken Bay.
